About us
Haikai Photo is a photography and video production studio working across documentary, corporate, and institutional contexts in Europe and North America.
The work is shaped by situations rather than formats. Projects often take place in environments where preparation, discretion, and an understanding of context matter as much as the images themselves.

Haikai Photo is led by Theo Solnik, a photographer and cinematographer with a background in documentary filmmaking. His film work has been shown at festivals internationally and has received multiple awards, including recognition for cinematography. That foundation continues to inform the way photographic and video projects are approached today: with attention to structure, rhythm, and restraint.
Theo studied filmmaking at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb) and has worked across press photography, documentary film, and commissioned projects for companies, public institutions, and international organisations. This range of experience allows the studio to move comfortably between editorial, institutional, and applied work without changing its visual language. Alongside this work, Theo also leads Protocol Portraits, a separate practice dedicated to formal portraiture in institutional and public contexts.
He is also the founder and lead cinematographer of Haikai Media, where he works directly on corporate and commercial video projects.
